Background/Summary: 

On September 21, 2006, the Board of County Commissioners approved funding to initiate partnerships with the cities to implement the Youth Violence Prevention Project.  Out of this partnership the Youth Empowerment Teen Program(s) were established throughout the county and in Riviera Beach.  The Youth Empowerment Teen Program is a violence prevention/intervention program providing services to youth 11-19 years of age.  In September 2016, the Youth Empowerment Teen Program established an Empowerment Pre-Apprenticeship program for youth ages 16-19.  Youth Empowerment established a partnership with the Palm Beach County School District Adult & Community Education and Florida Training Center, Inc. This program provides youth an opportunity to achieve there high school diploma issued by the State of Florida, and a multi-apprenticeship certification in the areas of electrical, welding, plumbing, and carpentry. Youth will also receive development in the areas of leadership, community, job placement and on-site training.
