Background/Summary: 

Two of the top priority items listed under Administration at the City Council August 2016 Retreat were:

Ø  Professional Development of Staff

Ø  Talent Development

Moreover, training is one of the chief methods of maintaining and improving intellectual capital, so the quality of an organization training affects its value. Untrained or poorly trained employees cost significantly more to support than well-trained employees.  Training is a key contributor to positive employee retention and is a valuable commodity that, if viewed as an investment rather than as an expense, can produce high returns.

Implementing a comprehensive training program will help employees to acquire the basic skills required for the efficient, as well as, effective execution of the functions for which they are accountable.  In addition to:

Ø  Facilitating Succession Planning

Ø  Creating a pool of readily available and adequate replacements for personnel who may leave or move up in the organization.

Ø  Enhancing the City’s ability to adopt and use advances in technology because of a sufficiently knowledgeable staff.

Ø  Building a more efficient, effective, and highly motivated team, which enhances the City’s competitive position and improves employee morale.

Ø  Ensuring skilled human resources for expansion into new programs.

 

We are seeking the assistance of a certified training consultant to assist in the creation of a comprehensive City-Wide Training Program including:

Ø  Presentation Skills

Ø  Leadership Skills

Ø  Customer Service Skills

Ø  Career Development Skills

Ø  Management Skills

Ø  Strategic Planning Skills
