| | | | | | | | Background/Summary: | Decorative streetlights were installed along North Ocean (A1A) as a part of the A1A reconstruction project which was completed in 2012. The project was originally a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) project, but was taken over by the City as a Local Agency Program (LAP) project. As a LAP project, although still primarily funded by FDOT, the City controlled all design elements and was required to implement the project as FDOT would have implemented the project.
Quite some time after the completion of the project it was brought to the attention of the City that some of the streetlights may have been installed outside of the FDOT right-of-way. The City had independent surveyors survey the area in question and it was determined that twenty-one streetlights were installed outside of the right-of-way and need to be relocated back into the FDOT right-of-way. In addition to the streetlights being outside of the right-of-way there are multiple junction boxes and a few hundred feet of conduit that also need to be relocated back into the right-of-way. Additionally, some sections of sidewalk will need to be reconstructed in order to relocate the streetlights back into the right-of-way.
At the request of Public Works, the City’s Purchasing Department issued Bid No. 851-17 and received three (3) responses with One Call Property Services, Inc. being the lowest responsive and responsible bidder at $136,877.24.
Staff recommends that City Council approve the contract with One Call Property Services, Inc. for the relocation of decorative streetlights, electrical conduit and junction boxes along North Ocean (A1A). |
