Subject: A resolution authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the agreement between the City and Palm Beach County to accept Community Development Block Grant funds in the amount of $154,063 from Palm Beach County for fiscal year 2016-2017 for the milling and resurfacing of West 15th to West 17th Street between Avenue S and Avenue R as well as Avenue S from West 15th Street to Blue Heron Boulevard: authorizing the Director of Finance and Administrative Services to set up a budget and appropriate fund balance from 301-1116-541-2-6355 in the Paving and Drainage Construction Fund in the amount of $178,000; and providing an effective date.


Recommendation/Motion: Staff recommends that the City Council approve the resolution.

Background/Summary: 

The City’s annual submission of an application to Palm Beach County Department of Department of Economic Sustainability for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for FY 2016-17 for the milling and resurfacing of West 15th-17th Street between Avenue S and Avenue R as well as Avenue S from 15th Street to Blue Heron Boulevard, which is identified in the Northwest Neighborhood Strategy Area has been granted. Palm Beach County has approved the application in the amount of $154,063 for the aforementioned project that has a total construction cost of approximately $470,381. The $316,318 difference in grant award and construction cost will be provided from the City’s share of gas tax and bond funds.

 

Staff requests City Council approval to accept the County (CDBG) funds in the amount of $154,063 and approve milling and resurfacing of West 15th to West 17th Street between Avenue S and Avenue R as well as Avenue S from West 15th Street to Blue Heron Boulevard.
