The Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) is a State of Florida grant assistance program for Parks and Recreation facilities. In this funding cycle municipalities can apply for up to (2) grants for $200,000.00 each. The Parks and Recreation Department is prepared to submit two (2) grant applications 1)$200,000 and 2) $50,000 for the renovations at Cunningham Park. Both applications require a 100% match, which is budgeted in the FY17 capital budget.
The Parks and Recreation Dept. will utilize a piggyback contract for RMPK Funding Group to score the project, write the grant, submit the grant, track the grant and answer any questions from the funder. The vendor will also defend the application to the funding agency. The fee to provide this service is $3,500.00 or 1.4% of the grant amount. The fee is reimbursable by the grant if awarded. The Department uses this type of service as it makes the application more complete, leverages the relationships and expertise of the vendor and increases the City's chance of a successful application.
Presently the project has $793,554 budgeted. The project will go out for bid this fall, the grant rankings will be announced in January with funds available July 2017. However, expenses for the project from June 2016 will be eligible for reimbursement, therefore not delaying the project.
The application deadline is October 28, 2016
