In 2012, it was decided that once certain director positions became vacant, the position would be reclassified to managers. Since February 2015, the position of Purchasing Manager was added to the Administrative Job Classification List to replaced the deleted position of Purchasing Director from the Department Heads Job Classification List. However, since that time, due to the complexities and nature of procurement process, staff recommends that the position of Purchasing Manager be reclassified back to Purchasing Director. Also in a budget meeting in August, 2016, council recommended that the Purchasing Manager position be reclassified back to Purchasing Director.
In addition, the Human Resources Department would like to reclassify the Benefits Specialist position to Benefits Administrator due to the duties of the position and to ensure and attract quality applicants.
Due to recent departmental changes at the Utilities District, the creation of Compliance and Safety Officer and Senior Utilities Engineer positions were recommended for greater proficiency and safety.
