Recommendation/Motion: Staff recommends that the City Council approve this resolution authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute an agreement with Scott McFarland, MD and TEAMHealth Southeast for the continued provision of Emergency Medical Director Services and Medical Direction for the City’s Paramedics, EMT’s and Lifeguards

Background/Summary: 

Fire Rescue, as a provider of Emergency Medical Services, is required by Florida State Statute and Florida Administrative Code to contract with a State Licensed Physician for Medical Direction of its Emergency Medical Services Program which includes Paramedics, EMT’s and Lifeguards. The City has contracted with Dr. Scott McFarland for such service since March of 2007. Dr. McFarland has performed in an outstanding manner through the years.

 

Purchasing issued RFP 679-16 for medical director services on May 29, 2016. There was only one response to the solicitation. The Selection Committee met July 22, 2016  and determined that the proposer, Dr. Scott McFarland was the responsive, responsible submitter.
