| | | | | | | | Background/Summary: | Seven (7) former City of Riviera Beach Police Lieutenants Seretha Colbert, Angela Ellis, Larry Payne, Silas Spearman, Anthony Scott, Reno Wells, and Kathy Ribeiro (“Plaintiffs”) filed a complaint in Palm Beach County Circuit Court alleging age discrimination under the Florida Civil Rights Act of 1992, Section 760.01, et seq., Florida Statutes. Plaintiffs alleged that on September 30, 2011, the City of Riviera Beach eliminated the position of Lieutenant within the Police Department, resulting in alleged disparate treatment and alleged disparate impact based on age. The City denies liability with respect to this matter. Proposed settlements have been negotiated as to all seven (7) Plaintiffs including Angela Ellis, solely to avoid the time, uncertainly, and expense of litigation. |
