In 2011, the City Council approved an ordinance allowing former assistant city manager, Paul White to buy 5 months of what is termed “air time” in the City’s pension system.  Mr. White paid the full actuarial cost to allow vesting at ten years—Mr. White was 5 months short of vesting at the time he terminated.  Recently, the marina director, Ed Legue, made a similar request.  This ordinance would allow Mr. Legue and any other similarly situated employee to buy time into the pension system within the parameters of the ordinance.  The ordinance will automatically sunset on January 1, 2017.  Mr. Legue will bear the entire actuarial cost.  At this time the pension board is calculating the amount that would be owed if Mr. Legue bought 2 years of “air time. “
