| | | | | | | | Background/Summary: | The City has and maintains eighteen (18) facilities that have a combined total of forty-five (45) heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units. Standard practice for most mechanical equipment is to perform regular preventative maintenance which keeps the equipment functioning at optimal levels. Regular preventative maintenance also minimizes the unexpected breakdown of equipment which leads to increased costs for emergency repairs.
The City greatly benefits from having the convenience of being able to have emergency repairs done without receiving additional quotes which is time consuming and delays the time it takes to restore air conditioning to the building(s). The City’s current contract is no longer in effect and a new contract is required in order to be able to properly maintain the HVAC units.
The Purchasing Department solicited contractors for HVAC maintenance through the issuance of Bid #759-16. Based on bids provided Farmer & Irwin Corp. of Riviera Beach, Florida is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
Based on bid results, staff requests that City Council approve the contract with Farmer & Irwin Corp. to provide regular maintenance, preventative maintenance and emergency repairs to all City-owned HVAC units.
