On July 15, 2015 the City approved Resolution 89-15 adopting an Information Technology Strategic Master Plan (Master Plan). The Master Plan recommended upgrading the current Switched Ethernet network bandwidth for each City Facility. The Purchasing Division reviewed competitive quotes for Switched Ethernet Services and has determined that the AT&T Metro Ethernet Solution Bandwidth provides the best value.
The City of Riviera Beach is in need of increasing the internal network speed of their current Switched Ethernet infrastructure. The City currently uses a small AT&T Metro/Switched Ethernet Services to provide network connectivity between facilities within the City. The current infrastructure houses 1293 devices that transmit data through one another through this Network. The pipe sizes of the current infrastructures are too small for the users at the facilities to experience proper business speeds and performance.
Having small Metro/Switched Ethernet Pipes cause network performance to degrade and makes data transfer slowly. By upgrading, the City will increase the internal network speed. The network will be able to:
- Provide staff and public users with faster download and upload speeds between sites.
- Improved internet speeds at all sites.
- Improved voice quality at all sites.
- Consolidation of Servers to Main Data Center in City Hall saving the City $48,000 in physical server hardware purchased every 7 years for upgrades and replacement.
The AT&T cost is $6,613.85/month.
