Background/Summary: 

The Office of the Mayor, in collaboration with Council persons Lynne Hubbard and KaShamba Miller-Anderson, presents Juneteenth Celebration 2016 in the City of Riviera Beach. . Juneteenth is a wholly African-American celebration: slaves in Texas had been unknowingly free for more than two years thanks to the 1865 signing of the Emancipation Proclamation but word didn't reach them until June 13, 1867-8. This fact is celebrated each year as Juneteenth. The RBHA event will feature live music and presentations about this common history and about the RBHA's history and plans for  future housing development in the city of Riviera Beach.
