Background/Summary:

In 2006, the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners elected to enter into negotiations with The Scripps Research Institute  ("TSRI") for the relocation of its operations to the Florida Atlantic University Jupiter Campus and adjacent properties in reliance on the Cities and County's commitment to support an economic development cluster in support of TSRI.

To fulfill this commitment, the Cities and County agreed to form an Advisory Board whose purpose would be to protect industrial lands in each of the Cities which would be available for Bioscience Research.

The Cities and County entered into an Interlocal Agreement establishing the Bioscience Land Protection Advisory Board. The Interlocal Agreement has an expiration date of March 14, 2016. The Cities and County have determined that it is in the interest of the Cities and County to extend the term of the Interlocal Agreement for an additional 10 years. This amendment to the Interlocal Agreement will extend the term to March 14, 2026.
