| | | | | | | | Background/Summary: | The Riviera Beach Utility Special District owns and operates four (4) one million gallon ground water storage tanks in the distribution system as well as four clearwells in the water treatment plant. In accordance with the requirements outlined in the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) chapter 62-555.350, suppliers of water shall operate and provide maintenance to their public water supply systems. The regulatory requirements of the this chapter states that storage infrastructure that is in contact with raw, partial treated, or finished drinking water shall be cleaned at least once every five years to remove biogrowths, calcium or iron/manganese deposits, and sludge from inside of the tanks; and shall be inspected for structural and coating integrity at least once every five years by personnel under the responsible charge of a professional engineer. The Riviera Beach Utility Special District’s storage tanks are due for cleaning and inspection to be in accordance with the regulatory requirements of chapter 62-555.350. The District would like to utilize the efforts of Underwater Solutions Inc. to conduct the inspection and cleaning of the water storage facilities. Underwater Solutions is a specialized diving inspection firm that holds all current certifications, safety records, safety & sanitation plans to perform the work without suspending operations of the water purveyor. The water storage tanks are to be cleaned and inspected by certified divers while they are in service. The firm shall provide all labor, equipment, and materials necessary to provide vacuum cleaning of the tank, sediment sampling and laboratory analysis, and disposal of liquid material removed from each water storage tank and disposal of solid material removed from each water storage tank. The Contractor shall dispose of sediment in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. Upon completion of the cleaning and inspections, the contractor shall provide a written insured report, utilizing a registered Florida Professional Engineer, documenting the findings during the inspection, and an album of photographs, both underwater and above the water surface of the tank interior to include the dome and showing before and after photo of each tank. USD will piggy-back the contract between Underwater Solutions Inc. and the Orlando Utilities Commission of Orlando, FL. |
