Over the years, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) acquired property in the Riviera Beach Heights Neighborhood in association with the State Road 710 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Highway) roadway improvement project. FDOT did not utilize all of the properties acquired for the State Road 710 project resulting in a surplus of properties. As such, the City approached FDOT to see if some of the unused surplus parcels could be transferred to the City to accommodate the proposed Riviera Beach Heights Community Center. FDOT has agreed to transfer some of their surplus parcels to the City as long as it is utilized for a public purpose by the City in overflow parking and other future public purpose projects.
A copy of FDOT's surplus parcels to be conveyed to the City has been included in this agenda package and attached to the Resolution as Exhibit A.
Staff is recommending approval of this Resolution.
