Background/Summary:

The City of Riviera Beach Parks and Recreation Department would like to congratulate the Riviera Beach Youth Football, Cheerleaders & Volunteers for their participation in the 2015 City of Riviera Beach Youth Football and Cheer & Dance Program and the Pop Warner Treasure Coast Football Conference (TCFC).

The Pop Warner Treasure Coast Football Conference (TCFC) is a non-profit organization that provides youth football and cheer & dance programs for young people ranging from ages 5-14 years old.

The Pop Warner is a national program that believes athletics and scholastics go hand in hand, and at every level, the Pop Warner program seeks to develop well-rounded young men and women who learn not only the fundamentals of football, cheerleading, and dance but also the importance of education in an atmosphere conducive to developing sound character while having a good time.

The 2015 City of Riviera Beach Youth Football, Cheer & Dance Program is a traveling program. There were over 400 participants and volunteers that contributed to the success of the program.  The program participated in the Treasure Coast Football Conference (TCFC). The Treasure Coast Football Conference is comprised of local associations in St. Lucie, Martin, Palm Beach, Broward, & Okeechobee counties.

Jointly with the Pop Warner-Treasure Coast Conference (TCFC) philosophy, the City of Riviera Beach and the Parks and Recreation Department’s goal is to have fun while creating winners of today and leaders of tomorrow, and we are grateful for this opportunity to recognize the efforts of everyone who contributed to a successful season, including the athletes, cheerleaders, volunteers, sponsors, staff and parents.

In the upper divisions (Jr. Pee Wee, Junior Midget and Unlimited teams); there were over 15 football and cheer participants that have a grade point average (GPA) 3.0 or better. In fact, there were four (4) participants that qualified for the Pop Warner National All American.

The Riviera Beach Chargers Football and Cheer Team represented in sis (6) football divisions and two cheer and dance teams this year.

For the first time in the history of the TCFC; and the City of Riviera Beach Football program; the City had three teams place in the Conference Championship.

The Junior Pee Wee Division (ages 9-11); Jr. Midget Division (ages 10-13) and the Unlimited Division (ages 11-14); advanced to the Treasure Coast Football Conference Championship games in Jupiter, Florida on October 31, 2015. The Unlimited and the Junior Pee Wee football division was the runner up to Jensen Beach and Fort Pierce.

The Jr. Midget football team won their conference division championship by defeating the Fort Pierce Eagles in Jupiter, Florida becoming the 2015 Junior Midget TCFC Conference Champions.

In the first round of the regional playoff; the Junior Midget team defeated Flagler County Titans in New Smyrna Beach. They lost in the third round of the Regional Playoffs in Land-O-Lakes to the St. Petersburg Silver Raiders, completing their season with a 11-1 record.

During the Junior Midget’s Playoff advancement to New Smyrna Beach and Land-O-Lakes in the first and second rounds of the Regional Playoffs, the Parks and Recreation Department provided fan buses to support for the 2015 TCFC Junior Midget Division Champions.

The Cheer & Dance divisions participated in the local competition in Jupiter, Florida on Sunday, October 18, 2015. The Jr. Pee Wee Cheer team placed second, qualifying them to compete in the Pop Warner Regional Cheer Competition which was held in Orlando, Florida over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Other good news; the Parks & Recreation Department hosted its annual awards banquet on Sunday, January 10, 2016, at Inlet Grove High School, in which everyone who has contributed to the success of the Football and Dance & Cheer programs was recognized.

In addition, the football divisions and cheer teams also marched in the City of Riviera Beach Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade on January 16, 2016 and the Junior Midget football team, Jr. Pee Wee Cheer team and the All Americans will travel to Tampa, Florida to Busch Gardens on Saturday, February 6, 2016.
