The Activity Pool and Plunge Pool structures located at Barracuda Bay are over twelve years old. The structures have not been painted since 2009. The decking and stair treads on both structures have never been replaced. The annual inspection report recommended that we get the rusted areas repaired or they will lead to the closure of the slides. Repairs are needed to keep the structures operating at a safe level.
The anti-slip surface on the stair treads and decking has been worn away on the Activity Pool and Plunge Pool, causing it to be very slippery and dangerous. The metal elements on both structures are rusted and need to be treated and painted to stop further damage. The Plunge Pool's slide support structure is rusted and will lead to structure failure if it is not repaired.
Barracuda Bay Project #557-15 consist of three restoration phases.
- Barracuda Bay Deck Resurfacing - This consisted of the resurfacing of the entire walking deck.
- Activity Pool and Plunge Pool - This consisted of treating all rusted areas, repainting structures and replacing all decking and stair treads for both the activity and plunge pool structures.
- Refinish Pool Surfaces - This consisted of the resurfacing and retiling of the competition pool, activity pool and the plunge pool.
